Let’s chat fitness and workout classes today to change things up! I try to focus most, if not all of this blog on meal prep plus the occasional cheat meal (maybe way too many lately!), my heart loves food. Yes, my heart, not just my stomach. I am obsessed with the entire experience. For meal prep I take so much pride in the finished product. When I put that last dish together for the week my heart is so happy. Tired feet and hands, but happy heart! When I go out to eat I have this new appreciation for seating and ambiance, and of course flavor! I love to try new things, even though my husband says I end up ordering completely wrong and being unhappy with my meal. Point is, I love everything about food or meals or however you want to categorize it.
I also love working out. It took my a long time to get there but I can honestly say over the last 5 years I have fallen in love. Part of that love is for the place I get to workout. McClure Fitness in Benton is my jam. I love the instructors and owner. I love the clients. I love the variety of classes. I love that I can walk in and not only get a great physical workout but I am encouraged spiritually, emotionally and mentally. I love that I can feel confident in my environment because of all the previous reasons I love this place. IT. IS. MY. JAM. I find reasons to go by even when I’m not working out because my friends are there or I wanna shop (yep, best athleisurewear boutique around) or I wanna escape my house.
Back to the topic at hand…working out. When I first started working out I started running. Well actually, I starting biking (that’s funny how it’s come full circle with my love of spin) with my Dad one summer. It was the summer before I moved to start x-ray school and I had finally decided to make some positive changes in my health. I had started eating better and began riding bikes with my dad. But then when I moved I started running. I think a lot of people start their fitness journey with running because it’s something you can do on your own and you don’t have to deal with anyone judging you. You just walk outside and start running. or walking. or whatever you need to do to start moving. For me I would just run for a little bit then walk for a little bit and try to build up the time I spent running. Who knew it was called interval training and was a great way to scorch belly fat!! I still remember the first time I ran 3 miles, my first 5k. It was with my sister. I remember so distinctly that on the route there was a pretty legit incline. At the top of the incline I immediately wanted to stop but my sister looked over at my and said, “Do NOT stop! You made it all the way to the top, you can’t stop now”. But I still stopped and walked for a minute. So glad I’ve come a long ways with my perseverance to finish also!
Anyways, I started with running but once I was in better shape a friend talked me into going to a class with her. I loved it so much! Taking classes took my ideas on fitness to a whole new world. It became not just about loosing weight but also about being fit. Pretty much from that point forward I’ve been a group fitness/classes type of girl! So much that I now actually teach group fitness glasses and am NETA certified in group fitness and also spin certified by Schwinn. You can find me teaching Spin and Sculpt on Monday and Wednesday nights and teaching a class called “Sweat!” on Wednesday mornings. I have no clue how I survive Wednesdays but honestly they are my fave! I really enjoy starting ending one day a week with fitness!
